Catherine’s natural talent is accented by her authentic passion for her craft. As a singer/songwriter, her songs come honestly growing through the lens of her prairie roots, her loved ones and relationships, and of course, her faith.
Catherine has worked with some of the world’s best musicians and songwriters through her emerging career including a duet with international recording artist Dierks Bentley at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon. Bentley recognized Lewans’ talent when they spoke before the show and, much to her delight, invited Catherine to perform “Long Trip Alone” as part of his encore.
She released her debut full-length album “Kickin’ Up Dust” in 2009 which features 13 original songs, touching on topics of heart-break, going against the flow, saying goodbye, love, faith, and her country upbringing. This album, along with hard work and dedication, lead her down the path to receive the 2011 SCMA ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ award.
She appeared on the popular CMT mini-series “Big In A Small Town” where she was selected as one of the top 6 artists from across Canada to participate. Lewans’ popular YouTube version of “Amazing Grace” while singing in a grain bin, has also captured the attention of Canadian, US, and other international music lovers, leaving them wanting more!
When the invitation came for Catherine to try her hand at acting, she was eager to explore a new branch of the arts. Her debut role in the multi-award-winning full-length feature film “Because of Gracia” was certainly a thrilling new experience for her. She looks forward to exploring future opportunities in the acting world, nevertheless, she will always have a heart for music.
Catherine was invited to work with one of the most respected and accomplished production teams in Nashville for her newest recording project entitled, “Wild Horse”. She was excited to have the opportunity to record her vocal tracks for this 4-song EP album at Martina MacBride’s Blackbird Studio, along with featuring an entire team of Grammy award winners for the instrumental portion in studio.
She presented a series of performances in the winter of 2017 promoting “Wild Horse” shortly after its release, and looks forward to a busy 2018 with performances and continuing songwriting for future projects.
